Design (Face Seals)

We offer a complete range of resilient metal sealing solutions, each with a unique design to support different leakage rates, loads, or springback. While we have standard dimensions, our value lies in our application engineering and manufacturing expertise. We provide custom dimensions and designs to meet your specific needs.

Design (Axial Seals)

Our axial metal seals are designed to handle axial compression loads where sealing surfaces move parallel to each other during installation. These seals excel in applications requiring controlled deflection and consistent sealing force across the entire sealing surface. We engineer axial seals to accommodate specific groove geometries, bolt loads, and thermal expansion requirements. Whether you need C-Seals, Lip Seals, or custom axial configurations, our team optimizes the seal geometry and material selection to deliver reliable performance under your operating conditions, from cryogenic temperatures to extreme heat.

Custom Designs

Since metal seals are engineered to address critical pressure, temperature and leak rate challenges, they have a greater design flexibility. As a result, our team has designed and manufactured special shapes to accommodate typical dimensional tolerances.

Manufacturing Process Development

Our experts in manufacturing processes have worked to develop new features for our metal seal portfolio (shaped, retained, segmented, machined).

Dedicated Application Designs

Our metal seal design experts have created and innovated to develop the best solutions for your critical applications (double seal, aluminum seal, boss seals).

Materials

The performance of a metal seal is directly tied to material selection, with each application demanding specific properties. For face seals, factors like strength, temperature resistance, and corrosion resistance are paramount. For axial seals, high-temperature superalloys like Inconel® are often chosen for their ability to withstand extreme conditions, such as those found in nuclear reactors or aerospace propulsion systems. At Omniseal Solutions, we provide a wide range of materials to ensure every seal meets the rigorous demands of your application.

Coating & Plating

The exterior coatings and platings on our metal seals are critical to their performance. These layers improve leakage rates, fill surface irregularities, and enhance overall sealing performance. Specialized coatings, such as our proprietary NCCM, are applied to improve wear resistance and reduce friction. For plated seals, materials like gold, silver, copper, tin, and nickel are used as top layers, each offering unique benefits. In the case of jacketed seals, aluminium lining is often employed for its lightweight and protective properties.

Certifications

In addition to AS1895/7 and /23 E seals, Omniseal Solutions also makes AS5202 Boss seals. Many of the seal materials are compliant with aerospace standards and aerospace material specifications. Here is a list of general certifications that apply to our metal seals. Seals can also be made to ensure FDA, NORSOK, and API compliance.

Omniseal® Metal Seals are used in critical environments such as space, aviation, energy, and nuclear industries, especially in applications like rocket engines, turbines, power generation systems, and nuclear containment where extreme sealing performance is essential.

Omniseal Metal Boss Seal Group

Yes. Omniseal® Metal Seals include standard face and axial variants as well as specialized types such as metal boss seals for AS5202 fittings, metal shaped seals, Vseals for flange lift-off scenarios, and segmented Eseals—each optimized for specific motion, load, and installation needs.

Omniseal Solutions™ metal spring-energized C-Seal with PTFE coating

Omniseal® Metal Seals are fabricated from high-temperature, corrosion-resistant superalloys such as Inconel®, Stainless Steel special grades and Haynes®, with optional platings—like tin, silver, gold, copper, nickel or proprietary coatings like NCCM —to enhance wear resistance, reduce friction, and hardware surface imperfections, increasing seal lifetime and performance.

Name Description

Face Seal

A metal seal designed for static applications where sealing occurs between two parallel surfaces under compression.

Axial Seal

A metal seal designed for semi-dynamic applications where sealing surfaces move parallel to each other during installation or thermal expansion.

Springback

The ability of a metal seal to return to its original shape after compression, maintaining sealing force over time.

C-Seal

A metal seal with a C-shaped cross-section that provides high springback for extreme temperature and pressure applications.

Metal Lip Seal

A patented axial metal seal for dynamic applications with limited rotation or reciprocating motion.

Comma Seal

An axial metal seal for shaft and bore sealing with controlled leakage over the outer diameter.

NCCM Coating

A proprietary Omniseal Solutions coating applied to metal seals to improve wear resistance and reduce friction.

E-Seal

A metal face seal designed for light loading, flexibility, and high temperature capability, operating within elastic limits of the material.

V-Seal
