Aviation: Rotary Lip Seal Applications

Description

Omniseal® polymer rotary lip seals are used across commercial and military aviation in turbine engines, starters, alternators, fuel pumps, ram air turbines and flap actuators. These applications demand seals capable of operating at speeds in excess of 20,000 RPM, across wide temperature ranges, and in contact with turbine oils, de-icing fluids, greases and environmental contaminants. Omniseal® rotary lip seals outperform conventional elastomer seals in these conditions, offering lower friction, longer service life, reduced leakage and a smaller footprint than mechanical carbon face seals. All aviation products are manufactured to AS9100 standards.

Depending on the type of Rotary Lip Seal, the solution can be used across a broad range of dynamic rotary sealing applications in lubricated and non-lubricated environments, including extreme temperature applications.

Applications include:

  • General purpose, lubricated and non-lubricated (10, 20 series)
  • Extreme temperature (10 series)
  • Abrasive media and gas sealing (20, 10 series)
  • High speed with positive media exclusion via threaded lip (30, 80 series)
  • Low torque, environmental and dust exclusion (50, 20 series)
  • Shaft runout and bore/shaft misalignment (60, 20 series)
  • Medium-to-high pressure hydraulics (30 series)
  • High pressure hydraulics (70 series)
